important in light of its widespread presence throughout the manufacture of HBLEDs. Pall Ultrapure Water Filtration products are engineered to exceed HBLED cleanliness requirements, specifically with regard to the need for quantitatively removing colloidal silica, particles, total organic carbon (TOC), bacteria, pyrogens (bacterial fragments) and metal ions. Pall systems are designed with strategically placed filters to ensure achievement of this goal and reduce HBLED defects related to foreign contaminants.
Typically, several filters are placed at critical points in the water filtration path in order to achieve a well-maintained UPW system. An effective filter does not contribute organic, particulate or metal ionic contamination to the effluent stream and also does not unload trapped contaminants or shed filter material. Pall UPW filters are integrity testable to verify removal ratings, perform identically from lot to lot all while having a low-pressure drop for long life and maximum economy. Pall’s asymmetric membrane design is ideal for high flow performance and leads to long service life.
Pretreatment is required to operate RO units effectively and economically. Pall Pre-Reverse Osmosis (Pre-RO) filters provide a consistent high quality. This may permit RO units to be operated at lower pressures for longer periods because of reduced membrane fouling, thus decreasing electrical power costs and decreasing HBLED production costs.
Pall Resin Trap Filters offer insurance against a potentially catastrophic, downstream contamination often released by ion exchange beds. Pall recommends that UPW systems have Ultrafiltration modules installed as the main filter in the Ultrapure Water loop.
Pall’s Microza OLT Modules, with their up to 4,000 Daltons molecular cut-off rating, reliably remove contaminants such as colloidal silica, bacterial breakdown products and molecules larger than their removal rating. Pall experts can recommend filters for successful UPW systems to reduce RO costs, extend PM frequencies, and reduce defects.
